The Watercolour Atelier: Transparency and Form

Beginner-Friendly Studio Practice in Watercolour

Watercolour practice with an artist.

Step into the studio for a course designed in the spirit of atelier education—a focused, small-group environment where you learn to paint through observation, demonstration, and sustained practice.

Over eight sessions, participants will explore the essential language of watercolour: building luminous washes, mixing subtle colour relationships, and understanding how light and form emerge through transparent layers. Professional paints and high-quality paper are provided; participants bring brushes as per recommendation.

What You Will Learn

  • Controlled washes and layering techniques

  • Colour mixing and transparency

  • Soft, hard, and lost edges

  • Observational skills and simple compositions

  • Landscape, Still Life and Portrait as Fragment will be addressed
